Orders implementation of ‘one patient one ID’ system
Islamabad – Prime Minister’s National Coordinator on Health, Dr. Mukhtar Bharth, Thursday visited Polyclinic Hospital, where he reviewed hospital performance and identified key challenges to be addressed, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health. The visit was marked by directives aimed at enhancing healthcare quality and ensuring efficient service delivery in federal hospitals.
Dr. Shahzad Munir, Executive Director of Polyclinic, briefed Dr. Bharth on the hospital’s current performance and the difficulties it faces. Emphasizing the government’s priority to improve healthcare standards, Dr. Bharth stated, “Our agenda and mission are to deliver quality services across federal hospitals, and we are committed to providing all necessary resources and measures to achieve this.”
Dr. Bharth issued several key directives aimed at bolstering hospital operations. He called for an effective strategy to guarantee a continuous supply of essential medicines, underscoring the importance of timely actions to prevent shortages. Additionally, he emphasized that all medical and paramedical staff, including senior doctors, must ensure their attendance, with weekly attendance reports to be submitted to the Ministry of Health for monitoring.
“Doctors hold a sacred position in society as caregivers, and there will be no compromise on duty,” Dr. Bharth asserted, highlighting the need for dedicated service. He further instructed that Outpatient Department (OPD) patients should have access to CT scan facilities and urged the immediate formation of a mechanism to facilitate this.
Addressing the need for modernization, Dr. Bharth recommended upgrading the hospital’s operating theaters to modern standards. He also stressed the implementation of a “One Patient, One ID” system on an urgent basis, which will streamline patient records and improve service efficiency.
To improve the hospital’s cleanliness and hygiene, Dr. Bharth directed that the hospital’s sanitation system be further strengthened. “I will personally monitor the hospital’s adherence to these directives to ensure that patients receive the best possible care,” he concluded.
