Karachi: Acting Vice Chancellor of Dow University of Health Sciences (DUHS), Professor Jehan Ara Hasan, has been awarded the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award by the Dow Graduates Association of North America (DOGANA).
The award ceremony took place in Dallas, Texas, during DOGANA’s annual summer conference, recognizing Prof. Jehan Ara Hasan’s decades-long commitment to medical education, research, and healthcare leadership.
The Dow University administration extended heartfelt congratulations to Prof. Hasan, acknowledging her tireless contributions that span more than three decades.
A 1989 graduate of Dow Medical College and DUHS’s first PhD holder, Prof. Hasan has made groundbreaking strides in both academic and administrative spheres. Under her leadership, Dow University has reached numerous milestones on national and international levels.
Expressing her gratitude upon receiving the award, Prof. Hasan described the moment as deeply emotional and more than just an honor. She dedicated the recognition to her teachers, colleagues, students, and patients, appreciating their efforts and sacrifices throughout her journey.
Prof. Hasan earned her PhD in 2012, becoming the first approved PhD supervisor in gynecology by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. She has authored over 50 scientific publications in international journals and played a key leadership role during the COVID-19 pandemic as both Medical Superintendent and ICU Director.
Her tenure also saw Dow Hospital achieve accreditation from the Sindh Healthcare Commission, and under her direction, DUHS launched six new second fellowship programs, while continuing 35+ first fellowship programs.
As Pro-Vice Chancellor and Director of DUHS Ojha Campus, she has been instrumental in promoting discipline, transparency, and academic excellence.
Prof. Jehan Ara Hasan dedicated this lifetime honor to her family, mentors, colleagues, and the institutions that shaped her remarkable journey.
