Islamabad: Authorities in Islamabad have ordered the closure of multiple hiking trails in the Margalla Hills for August 24 in view of a forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next 72 hours.
According to a notification issued by the Office of the District Magistrate, Islamabad Capital Territory, Trail 2, Trail 3, Trail 4, Trail 5 and the trail behind Saidpur Village will remain closed for public safety.
The decision follows warnings by the Pakistan Meteorological Department and aims to prevent accidents involving hikers and visitors to the hills.
The notification, signed by Additional District Magistrate Sahibzada Muhammad Yousaf, has been circulated to relevant federal and city departments, police, CDA and PEMRA for compliance and publicity.
Officials said all necessary arrangements are being made to ensure the public adheres to the closure for their safety.
