PPA Sindh Team Visit on World Pharmacists Day

On World Pharmacists Day 2025, the Pakistan Pharmacists Association (PPA) Sindh, led by its President Mr. Adnan Rizvi, visited several leading pharmacy education institutions and hospitals across Karachi to celebrate the contributions of pharmacists in healthcare and education. The delegation also included secretary Mr. Muhammad Bux Somroo, Joint Secretary Mr. Majid Hussain, Finance Secretary Mr. Adnan Latif, Press Secretary Mr. Farhan Ansari, and Executive Committee Member Dr. Farrukh Rafiq Ahmed.

At the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Karachi, the team met with Dean Prof. Dr. Muhammad Harris Shoaib, faculty members, and students. A detailed discussion took place on the new Pharmacy Curriculum, with emphasis on the need for an open platform for dialogue on its various aspects to ensure effective implementation.

At Darul Sehat Hospital, the delegation was received by Dr. Sidra Aleem and her Pharmacy Services team. The PPA Sindh representatives discussed the evolving role of pharmacists in hospital practice and witnessed various activities arranged by the pharmacy team, showcasing their integral contributions to patient safety, rational drug use, and quality healthcare delivery.

At Liaquat National Hospital, the delegation met with Mr. Harris Siddiqui, Head of Pharmacy Services, and pharmacist Ms. Saima. The discussion centered on the growing responsibilities of hospital pharmacists in clinical decision-making and patient care, highlighting the importance of strengthening pharmacy services to meet modern healthcare needs.

The team then attended the World Pharmacists Day event organized at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Federal Urdu University of Science and Technology, where they were warmly welcomed by Dean Prof. Dr. Lubna Bashir, Dr. Arfa Siddiqui, Dr. Nousheen, Dr. Ubaid Korai, faculty, and students.

At the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD), the delegation met with Executive Director Dr. Tahir Saghir and Director of Pharmacy Services Dr. Jibran bin Yousuf. Dr. Saghir acknowledged the pivotal role of pharmacists at NICVD and shared insights on future expansions, including new sections, enhanced clinical pharmacy services, and the establishment of a clinical trial unit in close coordination with the pharmacy department.

The visit concluded at Salim Habib University, where World Pharmacists Day celebrations were also organized by faculty and students. The PPA Sindh team met with Dean Prof. Dr. Noor Kamil, Registrar Dr. Hussain Habib, senior faculty members, students, and Dr. Masood Khan, Head of Pharmacy Operations. On this occasion, a landmark MoU was signed between PPA Sindh and Dvago Health for training pharmacists in diabetes management in community settings. The agreement was signed by President Mr. Adnan Rizvi and CEO Mr. Wasif Khan, in the presence of faculty members, students, and dignitaries.

World Pharmacists Day 2025 was thus marked with recognition, collaboration, and a renewed commitment to the profession. PPA Sindh extends its gratitude to all institutions and professionals who welcomed the delegation and reaffirms its dedication to advancing pharmacy practice, education, and patient-centered care across Pakistan. Furthermore, PPA Sindh will continue visits to various institutions in the coming week for the same purpose.
