Islamabad: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has directed six of its officers, including a former acting registrar, to perform their duties from home until further orders, under what it describes as an administrative and operational arrangement aimed at ensuring work continuity and efficiency.
According to an official notification issued by the council on November 11, 2025, the officers have been instructed to remain available during official working hours through phone, email, or other electronic means but will not be required to attend the office physically. The directive was issued with the approval of the competent authority.
Those named in the notification include Dr. Shaista Faisal (Director Medical), Dr. Syed Azhar Ali Shah (Deputy Registrar Medical), Ms. Saira Rubab Nasir (Deputy Director Legal), Mr. Dilpazeer Ahmed (Deputy Director Admin/HR), Mr. Mushtaq Ahmed (Protocol Officer), and Mr. Shan-e-Elahi (Assistant).
PMDC officials said the move was part of a broader effort to streamline administrative operations, improve workflow, and utilize available human resources efficiently. The council stated that these temporary arrangements were introduced to ensure the continuity of official work without interruption.
When contacted, a senior PMDC official and council member said the council was ‘experimenting with partial digitalization’ and remote work to evaluate cost-saving and operational efficiency. “Initially, six officials have been asked to work from home as part of this pilot arrangement. If successful, more employees could be included in this model,” the official added.
The PMDC, headquartered in Islamabad, is the primary regulatory body overseeing medical and dental education and professional licensing across Pakistan. The council has recently been engaged in internal restructuring to modernize its systems and enhance transparency in operations.
