Sindh Government Takes Action After Stray Dog Attacks at University of Karachi

Karachi: The Government of Sindh has taken swift notice of the recent incidents in which children and women were attacked by stray dogs inside the University of Karachi. Sindh Minister for Universities and Boards, Muhammad Ismail Rahu, has demanded an immediate report from the university administration after multiple dog-bite cases surfaced.

The minister contacted the Vice Chancellor of the University of Karachi and expressed deep concern over the increasing number of stray dogs on campus. He instructed the VC to ensure daily cleaning and sterilization at all entry and exit points, as well as within the entire campus, to effectively control the stray dog population and prevent further attacks.

The Vice Chancellor informed the minister that all individuals and children who were bitten are currently receiving medical treatment and have been administered anti-rabies vaccines. He also disclosed that the university administration had repeatedly written to the Gulshan Town administration, requesting a dog-control campaign, but no concrete action had been taken so far.

Following a report by Vital News, the Sindh government has now intervened. Minister Ismail Rahu has directed the Gulshan Town authorities to immediately launch a stray dog control and removal campaign to ensure the safety of students, employees, and residents on the campus.

With rising concerns over public safety, the provincial government has urged both the university administration and town authorities to work together and take urgent measures to eliminate the threat posed by stray dogs within the university premises.
