Karachi: Karachi Metropolitan University (KMU) organized a “Legacy and Excellence Recognition Ceremony” to pay tribute to the academic services of Karachi Medical and Dental College (KMDC), its founders, faculty members, and distinguished contributors.
The ceremony was held at the university auditorium and was attended by Karachi Commissioner Hassan Naqvi as the chief guest, while Dr. Nauman Ahsan, Director General of the Sindh Higher Education Commission (SHEC), was also present. Senior educationists, retired faculty members, alumni, healthcare professionals, and other distinguished guests participated in the event.
Addressing the ceremony, Chief Guest Karachi Commissioner Hassan Naqvi stated that graduates of KMDC and KMU are serving in renowned institutions around the world, which reflects the strong academic foundations of these institutions.
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Syed Waseem Qazi said that KMU’s journey is a shining example of vision, struggle, and institutional resilience. He added that despite limited resources, the university has established a modern education system, a transparent examination mechanism, and an academic structure aligned with international standards. He highlighted the computer-based examination system introduced in collaboration with NED University as a significant milestone.
Principal Professor Dr. Riffat Farooq stated that KMU is committed to quality education, innovation, and providing equal opportunities to students from all segments of society, while continuing the strong academic traditions of KMDC.
