Karachi: Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) has relieved Senior Director Medical and Health Services Dr Mehwish Arif Mithani of her responsibilities and withdrawn her additional charge as Medical Superintendent of Sobhraj Maternity Hospital, according to an official order issued by the Human Resources Management Department.
The order, issued on Tuesday, said Dr Mehwish Mithani, a BPS-18 officer presently serving as Senior Director Medical and Health Services and Medical Superintendent of Sobhraj Maternity Hospital, had been relieved of both assignments with immediate effect and directed to report to the Human Resources Management Department until further orders.
The notification stated that the action had been taken under the directives of the competent authority of KMC. It did not specify any reasons for the decision.
Copies of the order were sent to the municipal commissioner, financial adviser, senior director (coordination) to the mayor, director of medical and health services, medical superintendent of Sobhraj Maternity Hospital, director MMD, director administration HRM, secretary to the mayor and other concerned officials.
The move comes amid efforts by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation to improve the functioning of its health services and administrative structure. KMC manages a network of hospitals and healthcare facilities catering to thousands of patients in the metropolis.
