Islamabad: Awaam Pakistan, a newly formed political party, has dispatched its first truckload of relief goods to flood-affected families in Buner, pledging to stand with communities in times of crisis.
Dr. Zafar Mirza, a senior leader of the party and former special assistant to the prime minister on health, announced that the consignment comprises family packages designed to sustain each household for about a month. He said the initiative was made possible through the contributions of party members and supporters.
“Through the contributions of Awaam Pakistan members and supporters, Alhamdulillah we have been able to develop a family package for affected families in Buner, and today we have sent the first truckload of these packages for hundreds of families,” Dr. Mirza said, adding that each package costs around Rs12,000.
The relief package includes a comprehensive mix of food supplies, hygiene products, and household essentials. Items range from wheat flour, rice, cooking oil, sugar, tea, and milk powder to hand-washing soap, sanitary cloths, mosquito repellent, and even small household items like slippers, utensils, and water purification tablets.
According to Dr. Mirza, the food kit alone is valued at over Rs7,000, while the full package is worth approximately Rs11,700.
Dr. Mirza emphasized that the role of political parties should not be confined to electoral contests but must extend to wholehearted service to people, especially during emergencies.
“We believe that politics is not just about power—it is about standing by the people when they need us the most,” he remarked.
He further shared that another truckload of similar packages is being prepared to support families in other flood-hit districts of northern Pakistan.
“This is only the beginning. We will continue to expand this effort, and I invite more people to come forward with cash or in-kind contributions so we can reach more families in need,” he appealed.
Photographs released by Awaam Pakistan’s central media cell showed volunteers and party workers preparing, sealing, and loading the packages onto trucks bound for Buner.
The party has branded the initiative under its campaign “Pukaar,” urging citizens to step forward and help flood-hit families.
“This relief drive reflects the philosophy of Awaam Pakistan—that politics must be people-centered and service-driven,” Dr. Mirza added. “It is about delivering hope and dignity to families facing the worst days of their lives.”
