Government says attempt to break into an armoury in Freetown has been repelled and calm restored Fortified clashes erupted in Sierra Leone’s capital on Sunday after what the government said was an attack on a military armoury, as it assessed an immediate civil curfew. substantiations said they had heard shots and explosions in the Wilberforce quarter of Freetown, where the armoury and a number of delegacies are located. Other substantiations reported exchanges of fire near a barracks in Murray Town quarter, home to the cortege , and outside another military point in the capital. Video posted on social networks suggested multitudinous captures had escaped from the central jail. One man who was in a group mugged on the road by an AFP pressman said they had escaped from the captivity.
