Karachi: The Sindh cabinet has approved a budget of Rs 232.1 million for the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Sukkur to reconduct the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) across the province within six weeks.
This decision aims to ensure transparency in the examination process after concerns over previous incidents of paper leaks that affected thousands of aspiring medical students, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah told provincial cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
Sindh CMi Syed Murad Ali Shah emphasized the importance of fairness in all examinations, stating that incidents like paper leaks harm both the reputation of the institutions involved and the future of students.
He underscored his commitment to maintaining transparency in MDCAT and other educational tests.
The IBA Karachi has reportedly opted not to conduct MDCAT, which has led to the responsibility being handed to IBA Sukkur, he informed.
The re-examination will take place in major cities, including Karachi, Hyderabad, Nawabshah, Sukkur, and Larkana.
The Sindh government’s decision follows a recent court case over the alleged leak of MDCAT papers, sparking discussions about the need for a secure and transparent examination framework for medical admissions in the province.
