Karachi girl dies of dengue as infections continue to surge across Sindh

Karachi: A 22-year-old girl from Karachi’s East district passed away due to dengue virus at a government hospital, raising the death toll to 25 in Sindh over the past one month. With this latest fatality, the total number of dengue-related deaths reported in the province this year has reached 38.

According to the daily situation report, 449 new dengue cases were recorded across Sindh in the last 24 hours. Karachi reported 215 cases, while Hyderabad confirmed 234 infections, indicating continued high transmission in both divisions.

The report further stated that 77 new dengue patients were admitted to government hospitals, while 54 new cases were admitted to private health facilities, bringing the total number of hospitalized dengue patients across Sindh to 109.

In Karachi Division’s government hospitals, 32 new patients were admitted, whereas 28 new admissions were reported from Hyderabad’s public hospitals, health officials said.

Meanwhile, 67 patients recovered and were discharged from government hospitals, and 59 recovered in private facilities during the same period.

The Health Department confirmed that one dengue-related death was reported in the last 24 hours.

A total of 4,101 dengue tests were conducted across Sindh, with 449 samples testing positive. Karachi labs reported the highest number of cases at 215, followed by 234 positive cases in Hyderabad, according to the Directorate General Health Sindh.
