Islamabad: The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has announced the rescheduling of the Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT) in view of the devastating floods across the country, following strong appeals from students, their parents, and parliamentarians sitting on parliamentary health committees.
The test, originally slated for October 5, 2025, will now be held on Sunday, October 26, 2025. The decision was formally conveyed through a public notice issued on Friday, with the Council citing prevailing floods and torrential rains in several regions as the key reason behind the postponement.
According to officials, the move was made in the broader interest of students to ensure equal access to the highly competitive national test. In recent weeks, parliamentary health committees had urged the PMDC to consider the difficulties of students in flood-affected areas, noting that travel disruptions and loss of essential facilities could severely impact their ability to appear in the examination. Students and parents had also pressed for an extension to allow a fair chance for all candidates.
The decision followed a detailed consultation between PMDC and provincial universities held on Thursday. After reviewing the ground situation and concerns raised at multiple forums, the Council unanimously agreed to reschedule the test.
Separately, PMDC also announced the reopening of the MDCAT-2025 online registration portal until September 16, 2025 (11:59 pm). Fresh candidates may now register with the prescribed fee, while already registered candidates have been given the opportunity to review and update their details on the portal. However, PMDC has cautioned that incomplete applications may be cancelled.
Officials said the rescheduling, along with the reopened registration window, reflects the Council’s commitment to transparency and fairness in the admission process. “The decision has been taken in the best interest of students to ensure equal educational opportunities for all,” the PMDC noted in its public notice.
